FAQ

Direct mail questions, straight answers.

Everything most local business owners ask before running their first Crazy Mailman drop in Northeast Florida — pricing, timing, design, targeting, and how EDDM works.

Frequently asked questions

What is EDDM and how is it different from a regular postcard mailer?+

EDDM stands for Every Door Direct Mail. Instead of buying a mailing list and addressing each piece, USPS delivers your mailer to every active address on selected carrier routes. There are no individual addresses, no list rental, and postage is the lowest USPS offers — currently around 21 cents per piece for standard EDDM Retail.

How much does a Crazy Mailman group mailer cost?+

First-time spots are $499 for 5,000 pieces delivered — roughly 10 cents per household. The standard rate for returning customers is $699 per drop. Price includes design, print, USPS prep, and postage. A solo EDDM mailer of the same size typically runs $1,400–$2,200 all-in.

Why only 9 spots per mailer?+

Nine business panels is the right balance between keeping cost down and keeping each panel large enough to actually read. More than nine and your offer gets buried; fewer and the cost per business goes up.

What does 'one business per industry' mean?+

Each mailer locks one slot per category — one restaurant, one dentist, one HVAC company, one real estate agent, and so on. The moment you claim your spot, we block any direct competitor from joining that same drop. You never share a mailer with someone selling the same thing.

What areas do you mail to?+

Jacksonville and a 60-mile radius across Northeast Florida — Duval, St. Johns, Clay, and Nassau counties. That includes the Beaches, San Marco, Riverside, Mandarin, Arlington, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, St. Augustine, Orange Park, Fleming Island, and Fernandina Beach.

Do you handle the design?+

Yes. Send your logo, photos, and the offer you want to feature. Our designers build your panel from scratch and send a digital proof. You get unlimited revisions until you approve it. If you already have print-ready files, we'll use those instead.

How long does it take from signup to mailbox?+

Group mailers go out on a fixed schedule per area — typically every 30–60 days. From the day you claim your spot, expect 2–5 weeks to in-home delivery depending on the drop date. A custom solo route runs about 2–4 weeks once design is approved.

What size are the mailers?+

Standard EDDM size for our group mailers is 8.5×11 inches, printed on heavy gloss stock. Each business gets a clearly defined panel. For custom solo routes we offer 6.5×9, 8.5×11, 9×12, and other EDDM-eligible sizes.

Do I have to write the copy myself?+

No. You can either type your own offer in the signup form, or pick the option to have us write it for you. If you choose copywriting help, we book a 15-minute call to understand your offer and draft the copy as part of the design.

Can I see who's on the mailer with me?+

Yes — once the drop is full or the deadline hits, you'll get a preview of the full mailer before it goes to print. You'll already know which industries are on the mailer when you claim your spot.

What if my industry is already taken in the area I want?+

We'll show you the next-closest area where your industry is open, or you can wait for the next scheduled drop in that same neighborhood. We never double-up industries on a single mailer.

Does EDDM actually work in 2026?+

Yes, especially for local services. Direct mail open rates run 80–90% versus 20–25% for email, response rates average 4–9% (DMA data) versus under 1% for digital display, and most US households still walk to a physical mailbox every day. The category that's struggling is national untargeted mail — local, hyper-relevant offers still convert.

Do you offer mailing-list (targeted) direct mail too?+

Yes. For campaigns that need to hit specific homeowners, income brackets, age ranges, or business types, we run targeted addressed mail using a purchased or supplied list. EDDM is cheaper per piece; targeted mail is more precise. See our targeting page for the trade-off.

Can I track results?+

Use a unique phone number, QR code, promo code, or landing page on your panel. Mail does not give you the per-click data digital does, but a tracked offer makes attribution clean. We can recommend a setup during onboarding.
